چکیده
Sepsis is the main cause of death among patients admitted to intensive care units. Management sepsis includes fluid resuscitation, vasopressors, intravenous antimicrobials, source control, mechanical ventilation, and others. New insights into potential benefits non-antimicrobial drugs in have evolved based on pathophysiology disease mechanism action some drugs, but findings are still controversial. In this study, we aimed evaluate effect beta-blockers, aspirin, statins, heparin as adjunctive treatments septic under ventilation with non-cardiovascular diseases their mortality. We searched PubMed relevant keywords (beta-blockers, or heparin, critically ill sepsis) for last 10 years personal collection articles, then assessed studies according prespecified inclusion exclusion criteria. Our results show that may promising feedback reducing However, new well-controlled, randomized, multicenter needed confirm that, multiple issues regarding usage need be addressed. On other hand, effectiveness statins was not strong studied, suggest further research these results.

Is Aspirin Still the Cornerstone of Antiplatelet Therapy in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease? An Historical and Practical Narrative Review
Aspirin is an irreversible and non-selective inhibitor of cyclo-oxygenase. It represents the cornerstone of antiplatelet therapy and is used in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Disagreement over the optimal maintenance dosage still exists; in America and Europe the most used doses of aspirin are 81 mg and 100 mg daily, respectively. There is also debate on the formulation and rou...

متن کاملBeta-blocker under-use in COPD patients
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular (CVS) comorbidities are common in COPD and contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality, especially following acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD). Beta-blockers (BBs) are safe and effective in COPD patients, with demonstrated survival benefit following myocardial infarction. We sought to determine if BBs are under-prescribed in patients hospitalized with AECOPD...
متن کاملThe patient needing prolonged mechanical ventilation: a narrative review
Background Progress in management has improved hospital mortality of patients admitted to the intensive care units, but also the prevalence of those patients needing weaning from prolonged mechanical ventilation, and of ventilator assisted individuals. The result is a number of difficult clinical and organizational problems for patients, caregivers and health services, as well as high human and...
متن کامل13CO2 recovery fraction in expired air of septic patients under mechanical ventilation.
The continuous intravenous administration of isotopic bicarbonate (NaH13CO2) has been used for the determination of the retention of the 13CO2 fraction or the 13CO2 recovered in expired air. This determination is important for the calculation of substrate oxidation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate, in critically ill patients with sepsis under mechanical ventilation, the 13CO2 recov...
